WINTERMAN

is more than a triathlon

It is a unique journey through the landscape of Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland and the Lusatian Mountains, full of deep valleys, rock towers and untouched nature, which ends at the iconic peak of Ještěd (1012 m).

Our goal is to give you the opportunity to show your family, friends and partners what is behind hundreds of hours of training, hard work and determination. WINTERMAN was born from the desire to create a race built on the pure essence of triathlon - connected to nature, the heart and those closest to you.

The race is not just about performance, but also about sharing. Your loved ones are part of the journey, without their support it would not be possible. Together you will experience the emotions and respect that make WINTERMAN more than a sport - a true legend.

Behind WINTERMAN is a story of faith, motivation and friendship.

RUN

WINTERMAN swimming is completely unique and has no analogues in the world. The 8.9 km long course will take you along the fast current of the Elbe River, where total darkness, whirlpools, reverse currents and 30 large river buoys await you. The start is an adrenaline-pumping jump from a 2 m platform directly into the strong current that will carry you down to the finish line under the third bridge, marked by burning fires. The water temperature is 10–13 °C and the last 500 m cools down sharply to 7–8 °C, so a wetsuit is an absolute must for all participants. Thanks to the fast current, even slower competitors swim much faster than they would expect, but be careful to avoid the large buoys, it is a real challenge. We will transport you to the start by bus, the journey takes about 15 minutes. We definitely recommend swimming socks and a neoprene cap or balaclava. Prepare yourself for the power of emotions and a unique experience that you won't experience anywhere else - WINTERMAN swimming will enchant and test you at the same time.
The WINTERMAN cycling route will take you through the beautiful landscape of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park to the picturesque Lusatian Mountains. The total length is 180 km with an elevation gain of over 3,000 meters. Look forward to climbs, descents, winding narrow asphalt roads and technically challenging sections that will test everyone. The route begins with a deep canyon of the Elbe River, lined with dramatic rock cliffs, to the lowest point of the Czech Republic - Hřensko. From there, it continues through the heart of the National Park to Jetřichovice and passes under famous rock formations, including the second highest rock arch in the world - Pravčická brána. The route then leads through the picturesque Šluknov promontory to the romantic Lusatian Mountains. There is a No Support zone on the route (13-30 km), where stopping, parking or providing support is not allowed. This zone was created for your safety and the smooth running of traffic in the National Park. Violation of the rules can result in penalties or even disqualification. Beware of the dangerous descent at a right-angled bend. The road is carved into the rock, narrow and abrupt. The entire route runs in full traffic, with intersections, railway crossings and several traffic lights. The organizer does not guarantee smooth passage. The minimum distance for drafting is 15 meters and the total climb of the cycling part is around 3,250 m. The finish line of the cycling part is in the Malevil resort. The route runs on very good asphalt, but be prepared for challenging technical passages and breathtaking views.
The WINTERMAN cross-country trail will test your endurance and determination. A total of 43 km, of which 11 km are off-road and the rest on asphalt. The last 11 km are an extreme climb, the final meters lead along stones to the top of Ještěd (1012 m above sea level), which is visible from almost every point on the route even at night. From Malevil you will follow the same navigation signs as on the cycling part. The first 10 km are off-road trail sections, the rest are on asphalt. At the 32nd km, behind the village of Janův Důl, there is a Race Check Point, where you must be there no later than 10:00 p.m. The last 11 km are an extreme climb to the top, where the finish atmosphere and beautiful views await you. From 5:00 p.m. and in reduced visibility, it is mandatory to have a headlamp, red flashing belt and reflective braces on - you will receive them from the organizer. There are a limited number of places in the finish parking lot, free parking is only for cars marked with the WINTERMAN sticker. The runner may be accompanied by a support person during the running part, who may run or cycle, but must never be in front of the runner. The runner may run next to the runner, the support person on a bicycle is only allowed up to the 32nd km and must always ride on the right side of the road behind the runner so as not to block traffic. Only the support person, not the support person, may serve refreshments or other items. Get ready for a challenging and unforgettable finish – the extreme run over the stones will reward you with the power of emotions and the view from the top of Ještěd.
